How Long Did It Take? - Leadership SHIFT Tip

Legend has it that Pablo Picasso was sketching in a park when a woman approached him and begged for her portrait.

It was her lucky day, Picasso agreed to sketch her. After a few minutes, he handed her the sketch.

“It’s perfect!” she gushed. “Thank you! How much do I owe you?”

“Five thousand francs,” the artist replied.

“What?!?” the woman sputtered. “How could you want so much money? It only took you a few minutes to draw.”

To which Picasso responded, “Madame, it took me my entire life.”

We love to believe that overnight success is possible. That we are just one celebrity shout-out, testimonial, or endorsement away from “crushing-it.”

Unfortunately, success isn’t delivered by FedEx — it doesn’t come overnight.

It takes “hidden from view” grit to make it happen.

It also requires us to start.

Have fun storming the castle!
