One of These Things... - Leadership SHIFT Tip

Growing up I watched a fair amount of Sesame Street, and one of my favorite songs was, "One of These Things..."  I didn't know it at the time, but it was a little cognitive training that placed the focus on our differences versus building empathy.

If you caught last week's Shift Tip, you know I was in D.C. attending the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association (HBA) meeting. In the general session of 1,000 amazing female leaders, I was one of the things that didn't look like the others.

I often get asked why I show up in support of the HBA and their mission of gender parity. To me, the answer is a no-brainer.

I'm committed to closing the gender parity gap, but not because I'm a father of two amazing daughters, husband to a terrific wife, or to honor my Mom. Gender parity support doesn't need conditions to garner our support because it's one of the smartest business things to do.

But it's not the only reason why I attend and volunteer. In this week's video Shift Tip, I share another reason that ties back to my Sesame Street days, and it's key to building a better tomorrow today.

I decided to move our Shift Tip frequency to once per week so I can bring something cool to you in 2019. If you like the weekly message, I hope you will share it with someone in your peloton.

To all my cycling and tri peeps in our peloton, I'm excited to let you know that Peloton Coaching will sponsor a cycling team/club in 2019. Sponsoring a team has been a dream since college and I would love to see you apply for one of the initial twenty spots.

You can click on Team FLO to fill out an application.

And finally, don't forget to thank a Veteran tomorrow for their service. There are many in our peloton who served and I'm grateful that they did.  Thank you.
