Watch Before You Order Lunch - Leadership SHIFT Tip

One of my top five favorite bands is U2. Hey, what can I say, I’m Irish — it’s an obligation. Of course, I have about ten favorites in my top five, but that’s for a different Shift Tip.

Several years ago, they released, Lemon, which showcases Bono’s falsetto. In it, there’s the line, Midnight is where the day begins. It reminds me of the saying,It’s always darkest before the dawn.

With today’s hustle and grind, it’s easy to worry that we are not doing enough. We might get frustrated with the belief that we are not in the right place. It’s enough to make us wonder if we will ever get beyond midnight. As a result, we may only see lemons.

In the early days of my Last Bad Day recovery, I could only see my lemons. Around midnight, when the hospital got dark and lonely, I would frequently ask, Why me? Why did this happen to me? I don’t deserve all these lemons!

But the cool thing about lemons is that you can turn them into lemonade with a shift and a few ingredients. It’s how we solve our customers’ challenges and create better tomorrows for ourselves.

So before you place your drink and lunch order today, watch this week’s Leadership Video Shift Tip and discover why I will never look at lemonade the same way again.
